HistoryOur medical imaging company was founded more than 30 years ago on the Island of Hawaii in the city of Hilo by Dr. George Bracher. Originally operating out of a small office in an alleyway off of Haili Street, the group became incorporated and formally known as Hilo Radiologic Associates, Ltd., in 1973. In the 1970's and the decade that followed, Hilo Radiologic experienced rapid growth under the leadership of Dr. James Williams and Dr. James Lambeth. As radiology services grew in Hilo, expansion efforts were completed in North and West Hawaii during that time period. To reflect this change in geographical coverage, the company broadened its name to Hawaii Radiologic Associates, Ltd. (HRA) in 1991. In the late 1990's and early 2000, HRA continued to grow and prosper under the presidency of Dr. Clarence Funaki and Dr. Scott Grosskreutz. An outpatient CT unit was established in Hilo, along with the East Hawaii Women's Imaging Center, which is dedicated to the preservation of women's health. In late 2004, an outpatient open MRI was added under the leadership of Dr. Rodney Matsubara. Dr. Robert Saito assumed the presidency in July 2005. Dr. Saito and HRA continue to commit to providing excellent quality care and community involvement. |
